Holidays in Odesa and the Odesa Region: A Unique Tour by Moncastro
Two spaces, one network: a boutique hotel in historic Odesa and Ukraine's largest glamping in the Danube Reserve. Plan the route.
The Odesa region is one of Ukraine's most varied destinations. It has everything a real journey needs: the architecture and food of the city, the wild nature of biosphere reserves, the sea, and corners known only to those who travel off the standard route. But to open the region up properly, you need the right places to stop.
Moncastro has created two spaces that let you see the Odesa region from two entirely different sides. The first is a bespoke boutique hotel in the historic centre of Odesa. The second is a premium glamping site in the Danube Biosphere Reserve, near Vylkove. Together they form one of the most compelling routes through the region — and each is a complete journey in its own right.
Moncastro Boutique Hotel — the heart of historic Odesa
The Moncastro Boutique Hotel sits in the very heart of Odesa's historic centre, close to the Opera House, the old courtyards and the city's best restaurants. It is an intimate space of five bespoke rooms, each with its own character, interior and mood.
There are no two identical rooms here. Each is an original design: vintage details, natural materials, considered interiors made for guests who value refined style and privacy. From the attic ALTRO with its view over the evening city, to the spacious OLIVA suite with its balcony and vintage atmosphere — every guest will find their room.
The Moncastro Boutique Hotel is the right choice for anyone coming to Odesa to feel the city as it really is: its architecture, the sea, the food, and an atmosphere that words don't quite reach. A performance at the theatre, dinner on Derybasivska, a walk down the Potemkin Stairs — and a return to your own space in the centre of town.
For guests of the boutique hotel, Odesa opens up quite differently than it does through the window of a standard hotel room.
Moncastro Glamping — the wild nature of the Danube Reserve
Three and a half hours from Odesa lies an entirely different world. The Danube Biosphere Reserve, the town of Vylkove — which Ukrainians call their Venice — and Moncastro Glamping across eight hectares of wild nature, pine forest and forest lakes.
Moncastro Glamping is 43 chalets of two kinds: domes among the pines, and shell chalets directly on the shore of a forest lake. Every chalet is finished to the standard of a premium hotel — panoramic windows onto the landscape, bespoke interiors with vintage details, private bathrooms, kitchenettes, televisions, and open terraces with hammocks. And beyond the window: the genuine wild nature of the Danube Reserve.
For those seeking maximum comfort and privacy, there are two special formats: the Vintage with a Carpathian hot tub on an open terrace, or the Vintage with a private open-air jacuzzi. Both are experiences that stay with you.
The site has everything a full holiday needs: two heated pools and three children's pools, Carpathian hot tubs and a wood-fired sauna, a lounge zone with an open terrace over the lake and a bespoke menu from the head chef, a contact eco-park with animals, fishing, SUP boards and pedalos on the forest lake, bicycle and electric car hire, and a BBQ zone beside every chalet.
Nearby is Vylkove — a unique town on the water, worth seeing at least once. Canals instead of streets, boats instead of cars, and the nature of the Danube delta all around. Excursions to Vylkove are available directly from the glamping site. And the sea beach is only fifteen minutes away by car.
Why combine Odesa and Vylkove in one journey
Odesa and Vylkove are two completely different experiences, and they complement each other beautifully. City and nature. Architecture and reserve. Restaurant dining and dishes grown in the glamping site's own greenhouses. That is exactly why the Odesa–Vylkove route, with nights at both Moncastro properties, is one of the most rewarding ways to see the region.
The ideal shape of the trip: two to three nights at the Moncastro Boutique Hotel in Odesa, and three to five nights at Moncastro Glamping in Vylkove. That is enough time both to feel the city and to genuinely rest in nature, without rushing.
From Odesa to Vylkove is roughly three to three and a half hours by car, via Izmail or Bolhrad. The road passes through the landscapes of the Odesa region and is itself part of the journey.
The best window for the route is May to September, when the glamping site runs its full season with pools and water activities. But Moncastro Glamping welcomes guests year-round: insulated chalets, hot tubs and a sauna make a stay comfortable in any weather.
